Update for families - 17th October

Madang Avenue Public School

Advice for families 17th October

Dear parents and carers

We are very excited to be welcoming back our preschool, kindergarten and Year one students tomorrow and look forward to everyone returning to school very soon.

As we return to face-to-face learning we will be following the department’s advice on how to maintain COVID safe school operations. This includes the following:

  • Students and staff are not to attend school if they have symptoms; a negative COVID-19 test is required prior to returning to school.
  • No parents or other non-essential visitors will be allowed on site. Please ring 96257144 before entering the school grounds.
  • In the morning (from 8:30am), staff will be waiting at the infants and primary gates to meet the children and deliver them to the playground.
  • In the afternoon, staff will be on duty at the three exit gates and will wait with the children until they are collected. Please let your children know the gate you would like them to be waiting at.
  • Masks will be required for all staff indoors and outdoors while on school grounds and will be recommended indoors and outdoors for primary students.
  • Minimised interactions between student cohorts.
  • No events, assemblies or excursions.
  • Singing and dancing not permitted.
  • Staggered access to school facilities (library, engine room and hall) at a class and/or cohort level.
  • Current enhanced cleaning on-site and students maintaining good hand hygiene as was in place before lockdown.
  • Good ventilation maintained in classrooms.
  • Canteen and uniform shop facilities available by phone.

The Department has worked closely with NSW Health in developing our return to school roadmap and COVID-safe school plan. They will continue to monitor vaccination rates and transmission levels in our LGA and will advise us if a re-evaluation is required.

Please contact the school on 96257144 or email us at madangave-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au if you need further information.

Thank you for your ongoing support
