Update for families - Term 4

Madang Avenue Public School

Advice for families Term 4

In line with the latest advice from NSW Health, the Department of Education is recommending that all students continue to work from home from the beginning of term and follow a staggered schedule to return to school.

The proposed timeline for a safe return to school for all students is:

Preschool, Kindergarten and Year 1 students return on Monday October 18.

Year 2 and Year 6 students return on Monday October 25.

Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 students return on Monday November 1.

Students in support classes return according to the same proposed timeline.

Details about our procedures for ensuring a safe school site for our students and staff will be shared as we approach the dates for fully re-opening.

Our school remains open from Tuesday October 5  for the students and families who need it but parents are encouraged to keep their children at home until the dates listed above when this is possible.

All staff on site are fully vaccinated and are required to wear masks at all times. Students in primary schools are not required to wear masks but can if they wish.

Any staff or parents entering the school for any reason will need to sign in using the QR code displayed and to wear a mask at all times.

Hygiene practices in school will continue according to the recommendations. This includes any student or staff member with any symptoms or who is feeling unwell staying home from school and taking a COVID test immediately. Under the current restrictions anyone who has been off sick from school will be required to return a negative COVID test before being permitted to return to school.

We will continue to update you as further information becomes available.

Thank you for your support.
